New York:The World's Star!- Νέα Υόρκη: Το Αστέρι του Κόσμου!

(My heart is beating like crazy, as I begin a new adventure, ready to take a trip, as far, as never before. My ticket is without return, as I travel to the country of possibilities, freedom and opportunities. Here nothing seems impossible and dreams can come true. The ingredients are two: faith and effort. “If dream it, you can do it”, said once Walt Disney and it seems like he was right. Before I even realize it, I am on the plane with destination a different country, an ideal. Despite the fact that a piece of myself is still in the magical orient, another piece knows that it will find here a place where it belongs. Everybody finds a place here, no matter the tribe, the ethnicity, or the religion they belong.

I leave and never look back, as my plane is beginning the trip for never ending explorations in the new continent, with the unbeatable beauty and with so much diversity that doesn’t fit the human imagination. And the images are so amazing, so different one from another, so unique that you can keep your eyes off them. You can have a dose of magic, if you blend with the crowd in the vast avenues of the world’s capital, if you stare at the sunshine on the famous bridge of Brooklyn, or if you look at the bright sun above the Statue of Liberty, the symbol of hope of all these people who arrive to promise land full of ambitions for a new life.

A stroll among the enormous skyscrapers mill make realize how small you are, but at the same time how many possibilities you have as a human being, to create. A visit at the vibrant Times Square, is enough to thrill you and make you understand the intense pace of the life in the city that never sleeps, while your imagination will get lost among the unconceivable spectacles of the city.

Time's Square- The beating heart of the city

This place will serve all of your tastes, no matter what they are. A big amount of knowledge will satisfy your curiosity in the magnificent Metropolitan Museum, where you will be able to learn about the history and the art of the most important civilizations of the world. Four days are enough… to see the museum. A pray in the largest cathedral in the world will make you more peaceful, helping you forget your problems for a while, a visit at the theaters of Broadway, will make you happier from the nice shows and a stroll for shopping at the Fifth avenue and Maddison Square will leave you bankrupt!

Statue of Liberty

Everything becomes cinematographic in the Central Station and every movie comes alive in front of you, if you stand and take a look around you for a while, while your neck hurts if you try to find out where the Empire State Building ends. In the city’s Library, you stare for hours at the paintings and sculptures that make the building unforgettable in every visitor’s mind and you will feel a tickle on your palate, as you try the delicacies of the city in the various cafes and restaurants that are spread all over the city. And if you feel the need to escape for a while from the noise of the city, you go on a carefree walk or even boating in the unending Central Park that can calm your soul with its beautiful lakes, its various plants and its carved fountains that decorate every corner offering relaxation to its thousands of visitors.

 Η καρδιά μου χτυπάει σαν τρελή, καθώς ξεκινώ μια νέα περιπέτεια, έτοιμος να κάνω ένα ταξίδι τόσο μακρινό, όσο ποτέ άλλοτε. Το εισιτήριο μου χωρίς επιστροφή, όσο ταξιδεύω στη χώρα των δυνατοτήτων, της ελευθερίας και των ευκαιριών. Εδώ τίποτα δε μοιάζει απίθανο και τα όνειρα μπορούν να γίνουν πραγματικότητα. Τα συστατικά είναι δύο: πίστη και προσπάθεια. “Αν το ονειρευτείς, μπορείς να το πραγματοποιήσεις”, είπε κάποτε ο Walt Disney και, όπως φαίνεται είχε δίκιο. Πριν καλά καλά το καταλάβω είμαι στο αεροπλάνο με προορισμό μια χώρα διαφορετική, μια ιδέα. Παρόλο που ένα κομμάτι του εαυτού μου έχει μείνει στην μαγευτική ανατολή, ένα άλλο κομμάτι ξέρει ότι θα βρει εδώ ένα μέρος να ανήκει. Όλοι βρίσκουν θέση εδώ, σ’ όποια φυλή, εθνικότητα και θρησκεία κι αν ανήκουν.

America- the country of liberty, justice and... burgers!!!

Φεύγω και δεν κοιτώ πίσω, καθώς το αεροπλάνο μου ξεκινά για ατελείωτες εξερευνήσεις στη νέα ήπειρο, με την απαράμιλλη ομορφιά και με ποικιλομορφία τόση, όση δε χωράει η ανθρώπινη φαντασία. Κι οι εικόνες, τόσο εκπληκτικές, τόσο διαφορετικές η μία από την άλλη, τόσο μοναδικές που δεν μπορείς να τραβήξεις τα μάτια σου από πάνω τους. Μπορείς να πάρεις μια δόση μαγείας, αν ανακατευτείς με το πλήθος στις αχανείς λεωφόρους της πρωτεύουσας του κόσμου, αν χαζέψεις το ηλιοβασίλεμα στην διάσημη γέφυρα του Μπρούκλιν, ή αν ατενίσεις τον ήλιο να λάμπει πάνω από το Άγαλμα της Ελευθερίας, το σύμβολο της ελπίδας όλων όσων έφταναν και φτάνουν στη γη της Επαγγελίας γεμάτοι φιλοδοξίες για μια νέα ζωή.

Μια βόλτα ανάμεσα στους πελώριους ουρανοξύστες θα σε κάνει να καταλάβεις πόσο μικρός είσαι, αλλά ταυτόχρονα και πόσο μεγάλες δυνατότητες έχεις, ως άνθρωπος, να δημιουργήσεις. Μια επίσκεψη στην ολοζώντανη Times Square, αρκεί για να σε συνεπάρει και να σου δώσει να καταλάβεις τους έντονους ρυθμούς της πόλης που δεν κοιμάται ποτέ, ενώ η φαντασία σου θα χάνεται μέσα στα ασύλληπτα θεάματα της πόλης.

New York's Library

Αυτό το μέρος θα εξυπηρετήσει όλα σου τα γούστα, όποια κι αν είναι αυτά. Μια πληθώρα γνώσεων θα ικανοποιήσουν την περιέργειά σου στο τεράστιο Metropolitan Museum, όπου θα μπορέσεις να μάθεις για την ιστορία και την τέχνη των πιο σπουδαίων πολιτισμών του κόσμου. Τέσσερις μέρες είναι αρκετές… για να γυρίσεις το μουσείο! Μια προσευχή στον μεγαλύτερο καθεδρικό ναό του κόσμου, θα σε κάνει να πιο ήσυχο, βοηθώντας σε να ξεχάσεις για λίγο τα προβλήματά σου, μια επίσκεψη στα θέατρα του Broadway, θα σε κάνει πιο ευτυχή από τα όμορφα θεάματα και μια βόλτα για ψώνια στην Πέμπτη λεωφόρο και τη Maddison Square θα σε αφήσει απένταρο!

Όλα αποκτούν κινηματογραφική διάσταση στο Κεντρικό Σταθμό των τρένων και όλες οι ταινίες ζωντανεύουν μπροστά σου, αν σταθείς και ρίξεις μια ματιά τριγύρω, ενώ ο λαιμός σου πιάνεται, αν προσπαθήσεις να κοιτάξεις μέχρι που φτάνει το Empire State Building. Στη βιβλιοθήκη της πόλης, μπορείς να χαζεύεις με τις ώρες τις ελαιογραφίες, τα ψηφιδωτά, τα ανάγλυφα και τα αγάλματα που κάνουν το κτίριο αξέχαστο στο μυαλό του κάθε επισκέπτη και θα νιώσεις ένα γαργαλητό στον ουρανίσκο, καθώς δοκιμάζεις τις πεντανόστιμες λιχουδιές στα διάσπαρτα καφέ κι εστιατόρια τη πόλης. Κι αν θέλεις για λίγο να ξεφύγεις απ’ τη βουή της πόλης, κάνεις έναν ανέμελο περίπατο ή μια ανέμελη βαρκάδα στο ατέλειωτο Central Park, που μπορεί να γαληνέψει την ψυχή σου με τις πανέμορφες λίμνες του, τα ποικίλα φυτά και τα σκαλιστά σιντριβάνια που κοσμούν την κάθε γωνιά προσφέροντας χαλάρωση στους χιλιάδες επισκέπτες του.

Αυτή είναι η Νέα Υόρκη! Ολοζώντανη, απεριόριστη, ελπιδοφόρα, πολλά υποσχόμενη, μοναδική… Κι η περιπέτεια για μένα τώρα αρχίζει…
